43rd Latino Festival

Beautiful weather, perfect for running and festivals! I ran into the Latino Festival on Pennsylvania Avenue. There was a parade, lots of food options, and vendors.

"House of Cards" Films in DC--where? where?

Police cars lined up along Pennsylvania Avenue near 15th St.
Did you catch the fake motorcade? I ran down Pennsylvania, Constitution, and Independence yesterday late morning and was hoping to see someone setting up something, with no luck. Supposedly, they filmed at various locations (see below or go to DC site), but did not require any road, lane, or sidewalk closures. Bummer--this would have helped. I snapped a picture of police cars lined up along Pennsylvania Avenue near 15th Street NW; is this normal?

Locations:
3rd St NW btw Independence and Pennsylvania Ave
7th St NW btw Independence and Pennsylvania Ave
9th St NW btw Independence and Pennsylvania Ave
15th St NW btw Pennsylvania and Constitution Ave
Pennsylvania Ave NW btw 3rd and 15th St
Constitution Ave NW btw 15th and 3rd St
Independence Ave SW btw 3rd and 14th St

Spring Meetings to End Poverty

In case you weren't aware, the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings are April 11-13, 2014. If you plan to run/walk/park around Foggy Bottom/Pennsylvania Ave/18th/19th during this time, you will probably be a tad inconvenienced. There will be parking restrictions, sidewalk and road closures, and detours. It really isn't that exciting any more, since no one bothers to protest.
This "End Poverty" symbol is plastered everywhere on sidewalks, as well as inside elevator doors--in case staff forget our primary goal.

21 Degrees in DC

Pennslyvania Avenue from 22nd Street
I ran in this morning sporting Julia's ski pants, two layers of gloves, and several shirts. I was plenty warm. There is no end in sight for this winter weather. The really hard part is going out during the day for my second cup of coffee, when I'm not all layered up. :) I need to work on that caffeine addiction.

Pennsylvania Ave Sunrise

These pictures were taken this morning, looking up Pennsylvania Avenue. It was a nice change from the usual pitch black run. Although the days are getting longer, leaving for work a half-hour later is what really did the trick.

M & Pennsylvania Ave Tree

Nice to see the decorations in Georgetown, including a 6 a.m. sighting of the tree at M & Pennsylvania Ave.
