Anything Goes at the Kennedy Center
Who doesn't love the Kennedy Center? If you haven't been recently, I highly recommend seeing Anything Goes (now through July 7, get your tickets!). My family thoroughly enjoyed it--light hearted! hysterical! entertaining! Even the Washington Post gave it rave reviews.

Gym-Pact Update--Over $100
It took some time and a lot of workouts... but I've finally earned over $100! I'm going to attempt to cash in. I'm sure it is complicated and involves some fees.

Fox--No Way--Way!
All in the name of this blog, this is as close as I could get to the animal. I watched him sniff around a garbage can and wander around. Mr. Fox was scrawny and actually, this one looked more tan versus the reddish color of the one yesterday. Yikes--it is a family of starving foxes inhabiting the Mall.
According to this BBC article, foxes rarely attack people. I don't know. It is bigger than I expected and it is still a wild animal. The picture below was taken near the Constitutions Garden Pond, behind the World War II Memorial. There are more geese and less people along this path, so I think tomorrow I'll be back along the Reflecting Pool path...safety in numbers.

FOX along Reflecting Pool with Squirrel in Mouth!!
I'm not joking. As it came toward me--abiding by the "stay to the right" etiquette, thank you Mr. Fox--I took a triple look and then tried to keep my eyes focused forward as we passed, not making any eye contact.
I wish I could have been quicker in turning around and taking the picture. Mr. Fox was lean and happily trotting with the squirrel centered in his mouth, tail flapping.
Yikes--you don't see that everyday, certainly not at 6:45 on a morning run. I should have followed him to see what he was going to do when he reached the Lincoln Memorial.

Dreary, dripping run into work this morning turned into a sunny, glorious afternoon run home.

Capital Pride: Be True, Be You
I went for a long run this afternoon, but not quite far enough to run into the Capital Pride festivities. Below is a picture from the parade.

Update: 2nd Place - 15K!
Whoo-hoo! My official time for the 15K was 1:13:31 and it was enough to get me 2nd place in the 40-49 age group. I'm looking forward to getting that $25 gift certificate in the mail. :)
Springfield 15K Race
I haven't verified my official time yet, but it was around 1:13. I didn't capture the trail part of the race around Lake Accotink--very pretty, but a lot of uphill with gravel, narrow paths, and people! My brother ran it as well and he checked the route--over 52% of the course was at a 2% gradience. So, it was a good challenge for sure. My mom walked the 5K and came in second place for her division--whoo-hoo!!! She won a $25 gift certificate.
