Snow, Freezing Rain, Sleet, Rain
Snow day! Although there was very little accumulation in D.C., many schools are closed or on a two-hour delay schedule. Julia is home! I did venture outside for my coffee and there is quite a bit of ice and a steady drizzle of rain. I didn't see any major limbs down due to the ice. There was one light flashing at Tunlaw and Calvert, but otherwise no obvious signs of power outages.![]() |

Rain in Pittsburgh--ugh!
The rain is supposed to roll out by mid-morning; however, not soon enough for my last run in Pittsburgh. Great little city!

Enough Rain Already!
Washington, DC, has had enough rain this week--over three inches alone yesterday. This morning I ran through the mist. The Potomac was a mucky brown. Although the flood walls were up in Georgetown, the actual level of the Potomac did not look that high. There is actually an iPhone app to check the levels of the Potomac in addition to local paddling news.

From Miserable Morning to Amazing Afternoon
Dreary, dripping run into work this morning turned into a sunny, glorious afternoon run home.

Sandy Aftermath... Georgetown Survived
The floodgates are up in Georgetown to protect the waterfront; however, so far so good. Apparently, this evening will be the real test with the cumulative saturation and rain fall.
I had a picture of the Papyrus store boarded up, but my iPhone crashed after taking the picture. There were not a lot of people out walking around, but the restaurants that were open were full. Shops were open and empty.
It looks like we will be back to work, school, etc., tomorrow.

Run Rain or Shine
Morning run was boring and wet with temperatures hovering 50. Afternoon run was dry and a comfortable 58--perfect running weather. I looked far and wide today for something interesting and the only thing I can report is that there was a TV van with a tall antenna on T Street between 36th and 35th. Odd, but not interesting.
Best thing about the rain? It means less tourists on my route! :)
