A study by Kansas State University reveals that the longer you sit, the higher your risks for chronic diseases. A sample of 63,048 Australian men, aged 45-65, participated in the study. "The prevalence of chronic diseases climbed up as the number of hours the participants spent sat down increased. Those who sat for more than six hours a day were at a particularly high risk of diabetes."

One caveat the researchers pointed out: They were not positive if the amount of sitting caused chronic disease, or if those with chronic diseases were more likely to sit for longer periods.
