Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Washington, DC: May 3-4, 2014

Beautiful weather for an amazing event this weekend in Washington. The opening ceremonies were held on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, two-day route entails walking from the Washington Monument to Meadowbrook Park (Chevy Chase, MD) and then back to the monument--39 miles total.

Real Snow Day!

Washington, D.C. schools, city government, and federal government are all closed. Thank you--that means my work is closed as well. There will be no banking for the world today. ;)

Of course, this did not deter me from getting my coffee at Bruegger's; and thankfully, Whole Foods was open so I could get some bread, butter, Parmesan cheese, cat food, and sardines. (Yes, I had sardines in Rome and loved them; so I'm going to give them a go here.)

The prediction is three to six inches by 2 p.m. As of 9 a.m., the roads and sidewalks were a slushy mess. I did not see one city snow plow.

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Preparations

The walk is May 4 - 5, 2013, in Washington, DC. They were setting up in front of the Washington Monument, where the opening and closing ceremonies will take place.

I can't wait to go running tomorrow and capture the participants en route. Usually, they go right through our neighborhood, so it will not be hard to snap some photos.

Happy Halloween!

Washington, D.C., is back to normal, but NYC and N.J. are not. Here are some unbelievable photos.

Typical, barely 50 degree day for Halloween. I did not run outside today... but tomorrow, bright and early, I will face the cold air.
