Running After the Blizzard of 2016

After 22.4 inches of snow, the sun came out and temperatures reached 55 degrees! The sidewalks and curbs were quite messy, but it was fun to run around and check out the sites.

Flag Day at the White House

Happy Flag Day! The heat is definitely on in DC. Interesting flag display in front of the White House this morning.

Old Ebbit Grill and White House Christmas Tree

I love the classic nutcrackers outside of the Old Ebbitt Grill. Take a look at the White House Christmas tree. Thank goodness for the outside wiring structure--otherwise it would appear the tree comes up a bit short. I love Christmas.

Peaceful Protesters and More Things You Don't See E-v-e-r-y-d-a-y in DC

The best thing I saw running Friday morning was a former colleague from the IMF on a unicycle. Really, I'm not kidding. If I hadn't been so shocked to see him riding in downtown DC on a unicycle, I would have snapped a picture. Now, I'm on the look out for him...

Wow--look at that long hair?!?!

Memorial Day Sites in Washington, DC

Sunny and splendid in the city of Washington, DC, it was nice to see the memorials and monuments crowded with visitors honoring the veterans. Despite the tourist dodging, I enjoyed a quick run. Check out today's view of some of my favorites: White House, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial.

2014 White House Easter Egg Roll

Not a fan of the logo.
Over 30,000 visitors attend the White House Egg Roll event. Lines were forming on 17th Street NW this morning and apparently the event lasted all day until 7pm. Vera and I observed from afar at lunchtime. She has connections--next year we are going to volunteer. Here is the Washington Post's write-up about it. The 136th year of the event; the theme was "Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape."

Washington Monument Scaffolding

I snapped these photos during a lunchtime run. It was sunny, but windy and mid-40s.

Update on Construction Outside of White House

Remember my post from 11/12/12 regarding the mystery construction... well mystery solved--it is in preparation for the inauguration.

Mystery White House Construction Site

I tried to find more information about what they are doing in front of the White House, but to no avail. Thankfully, they didn't close off the whole road.

It was a beautiful morning to run--mild mid-50s with no wind.

Topless in front of the White House

Seriously... 6:30am and I had to look twice to be sure... but really, that was too much and too early for my eyes to see. I did not attempt to take any picture and I don't know why the secret service people were not doing anything about the woman (white skirt, bright pink sneakers, no top).

The only thing I can figure is that this woman was leftover from go topless day:

Perfect, low 70s run this morning.
