2014 White House Easter Egg Roll

Not a fan of the logo.
Over 30,000 visitors attend the White House Egg Roll event. Lines were forming on 17th Street NW this morning and apparently the event lasted all day until 7pm. Vera and I observed from afar at lunchtime. She has connections--next year we are going to volunteer. Here is the Washington Post's write-up about it. The 136th year of the event; the theme was "Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape."

Execuitve Office Building Tulips

OK, Washington, D.C. here is a beautiful shot of some tulips yesterday behind the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. It was sunny and in the 80s; today it is going to rain all day with temperatures dropping to 29 degrees overnight. What?! Hopefully this is a small glitch; the rest of the week looks like...well, spring--mid 50s - low 60s.

Peak Bloom for Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossoms have peaked--now is the time to run down to the Tidal Basin. The weather could not be more perfect; at 6:30am it was 64 degrees. Lovely. Better pictures to come!

Check out the Washington Post's Going Out Guide for the Tidal Basin!

Spring Meetings to End Poverty

In case you weren't aware, the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings are April 11-13, 2014. If you plan to run/walk/park around Foggy Bottom/Pennsylvania Ave/18th/19th during this time, you will probably be a tad inconvenienced. There will be parking restrictions, sidewalk and road closures, and detours. It really isn't that exciting any more, since no one bothers to protest.
This "End Poverty" symbol is plastered everywhere on sidewalks, as well as inside elevator doors--in case staff forget our primary goal.

Running to Bruegger's for Salted Caramel Coffee!

I am a regular at Bruegger's...it fuels my addiction. Hi, Rick! Hi, George! These two managers (of the two stores I frequent the most) are the best. Although I usually get French vanilla or French toast, I happily report that their new featured flavor of salted caramel is fantastic. I love it. It does not taste salty at all, just a nice robust caramel flavor.
