President Obama at the Georgetown Waterfront

Kudos to the PR people for choosing Key Bridge as a backdrop for President Obama's speech regarding fixing the nation's bridges. He spoke from Georgetown's Waterfront Park yesterday at 2:20 p.m. Although I couldn't make the trek in the middle of the day, my fantastic daughter--in the name of this blog--went down in the unbearable heat and humidity to snap a few pictures. Unfortunately, security was extremely tight and the area was closed off to the public; Julia tried every which way to get through with no luck. Thank you, Julia!

Too Hot for Afternoon Runs!

I cannot beat the heat in the afternoon. It is too much. Even walking at 5pm is unbearable unless you are in the shade. Thankfully, this morning it was low 70s. This afternoon, it is supposed to get up to 92 (feel like 96) with possible thunderstorms.

Hot summer days!

It was a very slow, hot run home yesterday afternoon. I was surprised to see my heart rate remain above 140 for most of the way (10 minute/mile pace). My legs felt like lead. I am not running home today; I need a break from the heat--already!
